جب بہ تقریبِ سفر یار نے محمل باندھا
تپشِ شوق نے ہر ذرے پہ اک دل باندھا
اہل بینش نے بہ حیرت کدہٴ شوخیٴ ناز
جوہرِ آئینہ کو طوطیٴ بسمل باندھا
یاس و امید نے یک عربدہ میداں مانگا
عجزِ ہمت نے طلسمِ دلِ سائل باندھا
نہ بندھے تشنگیٴ ذوق کے مضموں، غالب
گرچہ دل کھول کے دریا کو بھی ساحل باندھا

میں اور بزمِ مے سے یوں تشنہ کام آؤں
گر میں نے کی تھی توبہ، ساقی کو کیا ہوا تھا
ہے ایک تیر جس میں دونوں چھدے پڑے ہیں
وہ دن گئے کہ اپنا دل سے جگر جدا تھا
درماندگی میں غالب کچھ بن پڑے تو جانوں
جب رشتہ بیگرہ تھا، ناخن گرہ کشا تھا
