Asiyah (عاصیہ) means 'disobedient'; the Prophet ﷺ changed this name to Jamilah (Sahih Muslim 2139), and Dawat-e-Islami and the Malaysia Mufti call it makruh. It is different from Asiya (آسیہ), the righteous wife of Pharaoh, which is a fine name.

عاصیہ کا مطلب 'نافرمان' ہے؛ نبی ﷺ نے یہ نام بدل کر جمیلہ رکھا (صحیح مسلم 2139)، دعوتِ اسلامی اور ملائیشیا کے مفتی اسے مکروہ کہتے ہیں۔ یہ 'آسیہ' (فرعون کی نیک بیوی) سے مختلف ہے جو اچھا نام ہے۔
